How Feta is organized

Feta holds one picture of your agency. Six things make up that picture, and they connect in one direction — each one hangs off the one before it. Learn the six and the rest of the product explains itself.

The six

Companies are the businesses you work for. A company starts as a prospect and becomes a client; either way it's the same record, so nothing gets retyped when a deal closes. Everything else in this list eventually points at a company.

People are the humans — your clients' contacts and your own team, in one directory. A person belongs to a company, and shows up wherever their work does.

Contracts are what a client agrees to. A contract is built from your price book, so you're picking from a list you already defined instead of retyping line items.

Projects are bodies of work for one client — a website build, an ongoing SEO engagement. A project has an owner and a timeline.

Tasks are the individual pieces of work. A task can belong to a project, or stand on its own against a client. This is where your team spends its day.

Dashboards are what the work produced. Once a client's platforms are connected, their performance data lands here without anyone assembling a report.

The arrow only points one way. You never have to hunt for a task's client — every task, project, contract, and dashboard already knows which company it belongs to. That's why the first thing you do in Feta is add a company, and why every other article assumes one exists.

The two words that mean different things

Role means two things in Feta, on purpose:

• an org role is your access level — what you're allowed to see and change
• a job role is what you actually do — account manager, SEO lead, designer

One person has one org role and can hold several job roles. They're set in the same place and they answer different questions. Job role vs. org role covers the distinction properly; it's worth reading before you invite anyone.
